Deep Thoughts: Author, Blogger, Reader Appreciation
My deep thoughts are rather simple today. With all the annual crazy bitterness of the RWA national conference, I was thinking that we could all use a pick me up. When something like this happens in fandom, the thing that I always try to do is pass some good on. I try to give feedback to writers and say thanks to the readers. Maybe that is something that would be good for Romancelandia.
Say thanks to your readers. Write to your favorite author or even an author whose books you enjoy and tell them why you like their books. Leave a comment on some blogs to let them know that you always get a laugh when you go to their site. These are the people who turn writing and reading from a solitary activity into a community effort.
My Big Props Go To:
Selah March gave me information on the first writing contest I ever tried my hand at and has continued to be a great person. She also writes fantastic books.
The Smart Bitches keep me laughing and brighten up my day. Its because of them that I was able to find better romance books and get move interested in the genre.
The Romance Divas is a great community that has helped improve my writing. I wouldn’t know half of what I now know about publishing without them.
Christine Feehan was the author of the first romance books that I ever read. I was riding in the back of the car with my aunt and my grandma and I found her book in my aunt’s purse. I was bored so I started reading it. I quickly got hooked.
December Quinn is a great blogger and author whose insightful views on the issues in romance writing and publishing is invaluable.
Emily Veinglory does a great service for writers with her Erotic Romance Publisher Comparision site.
Bam always can make me smile with her witty and funny blog.
Samantha Kane is a woman who can write insanely hot threesomes like no other.
SA Clements edited one hell of an anthology, Locked and Loaded, which reminds one of the best lesbian romance ebooks out there.
Parhelion is a great author that I desperately want to see more of. She can spin one hell of a yarn!
Sara Denis wrote the excellent ebook, Stacking the Deck, and I’ve been loving what I have read so far of Dragon Undone.
Aw, thanks, sweetie. You’re still my best girl.
How’re those tonsils? Or…how’s the lack of ‘em, I guess?

Arin,
You are the best! Whenever I need a pick me up I come here. My little corner of Romancelandia is far from RWA’s, or maybe we’ve just retreated to our respective corners, I’m not sure. Either way thank you for all the wonderful thoughts, and blogs, you’ve sent my way. Right back at ya.
Sam
